Re: [LINUX_Newbies] Installing TOS

Are you using Ubuntu's screensaver, or did you figure out how to uninstall it for xscreensaver? I prefer xscreensaver with its random screens, plus you can tell it how long to stay on and whether you want to have to put in your password on wake-up. After all when you live alone, there's a bit less security needed. It's been awhile since I used Ubuntu-proper, so others might have more up-to-date advice.

I just saw on Distrowatch that RoboLinux is making their easy WinXP and Win7 software work on Mint, Ubuntu and others soon. So take heart many Windows only software and hardware will have a chance to run after WinXP dies according to M$ anyway.

Yes Joan, I installed Java and it worked.
Used it today.
However, I still need to figure out how to stop the energy saver from turning off monitor every ten minutes.
Power saver set to "never" does NOT help.
