Don't let the XP fool you. Freespire is Linux that is made to resemble XP.
That means as Linux it cannot run Windows applications natively. Instead it
runs Linux applications. An analogy would be the Mac. It has its own file
system, and runs applications meant to run on it exclusively. The same can
be said for Linux. All Freespire has done is change the look and feel to
make Windows users feel more at home. Sorry if this disappoints you.

The downside of Freespire is that it is as outdated as XP itself is. Its
parent company was bought out years ago and it has languished since. It is
not representative of Linux today or yesterday because it tried to pretend
that the user was running Windows. Linux is different. It is better.

It does not need antivirus software. It does not need defragmenting. It does
not need rebooting. It can run for months and years without a reboot. best
of all, it is free. In both senses of the word. You can give it away. You
can change it any way you want because the license is open.

My advice is to either install real XP if you want Windows or to get a
recent version of a good distribution and try Linux out for yourself.
