When you pull the two machines apart, you should get a pretty good
idea if the fans are the same or similar. If I were guessing I
would guess that it will work. I would also guess that there is
just a CPU fan. If so, you will need heat sink compound for the
new install.

In theory the CPU should shut down if it gets too warm. The problem
is if it happens over and over it WILL shorten the life of the CPU.

Just a suggestion. Until you have time to check into the problem,
might I suggest a cooling fan? If the device has air vents, here
is one I have used in the past and had good success:
