The best way for beginners to dual boot Windows and Linux is to share the
drive, or install them side by side which is an installation option
depending on the version that you are using. Do not use use entire disk
unless you are replacing Windows or have more than one drive. This way it
will take care of the partitioning for you and keep Windows as a boot
option. As you get more experiience you will find the last option Advanced
or Manual installation is best because you have more control. See section 6
below for what it looks like.

You won't be using Ubuntu, but Mint uses a similar installer and Ubuntu's
documentation is much better.
