Well, Arch does require a bit of reading--before install is best, but as
long as you know the pacman command, you could install a text based
browser, such as w3m, and go to the website--oh wait, network might not
work, although, if I remember correctly, you can do that during
installation.
There's an old BSD fanboy saying, BSD is for people who love Unix, Linux
is for people who hate Windows. Obviously it's a trollish statement,
and the offical FreeBSD site states that what is better is user opinion
only.
Anyway, depends upon needs, wants, experience, and all that good stuff.
For some of us, Arch is the perfect compromise between doing too much
and not doing enough.
Not saying anyone is right or wrong here. But, with Arch, (assuming you
can set up your network during install), one could install say, screen,
or better IMHO, tmux--I don't think they still have splitvt--that was my
first Arch contribution actually, I packaged it for Arch, back in 2004
or so. (Splitvt).
Then, using w3m read the docs in the top half and do your work in the
bottom half.
This is probably more than a lot of pepole want to do--as Roy says,
that's one of the nice things of having many distributions, it allows
something for every preference/need.
